CROCK Event Report Introduction
WEATHER SUMMARY
Wind Speed 2-8 mph
Wind Direction South
Temperature 19C
Summary Blue Sky
With the rocket season ramping down and the sun setting earlier it means the torrid weather is probably behind us. Well, from experience this is usually the case. But for rocketry we were going to have at least one more day of sunshine, even better little wind too.

CROCK Event Review
Reviewer: Gary MeakinMany rocketeers turned up to enjoy what could be the last sunny and wind free (relatively speaking for the Marsh) CROCK meeting for 2005, although the winter programme will continue for the hardcore cold fingers amongst us. It was also great to see new faces joining us to check out what this rocketry sport is all about and go away with some rocketry inspiration. Lots of flights took to the skies in which I managed to capture some great photos (see photographs section) which makes a change and some video footage this month too. Speaking of video check out Pete?s onboard footage. This video footage was captured using a budget DV camera mounted in to a Rebel Buccaneer rocket looking down and powered by a Pro38 J-motor. There is a second ground-based video of the rocket lifting off the pad. I hope with the ever decreasing price of DV video cameras and telemetry setup?s to see more onboard video next year.

The Jennings team of Rockets and Things launched a hoard of rockets throughout the day. Most notably was Michael?s scratch built rocket on a Pro54 J210 that had a slow graceful lift-off that accelerated with this longer burn motor. Another great flight was Malcolm?s scratch built Cracker that took to the skies on a Pro54 J295. I managed to get a flight in between all the other rocket events with my LOC Norad on a superb and rare Aerotech G64W 29mm reloadable motor. You have to love the Aerotech motors for great performance, smoke and noise as they burn. Richard launched his level-1 rocket on a Pro38 that made another great flight and was recovered s little distance away. Also Richard?s Stovi was great on a cluster of seven Estes E-motors. Andrew made some great launches throughout the day although recovery was up against him after one of his rocket landed up the top of a 30ft tree ? a first for CROCK and the Marsh land territory. Peter and family made it down and launched many rockets between him and the kids. Peter?s LOC Warlock reached for the sky on a Pro38 I motor with a great boost and textbook recovery, extra points given for enthusiastic child recovery. This is only a brief account of the day?s events and many more flights were made. Many thanks for everyone who turned up and launched, chatted and enjoyed the day?s events. Gary Meakin
CROCK Event Review Closing
I am relocating to Dorset in a few weeks and unfortunately will only be able to attend the summer CROCK meetings. I will still maintain this website but I am looking for CROCK attendees to send me their photos and videos of future CROCK events so that we can maintain an exciting profile of CROCK flying for everyone to enjoy. Please email me via this website for more information.
