CROCK Event Report Introduction
WEATHER SUMMARY
Wind South-West 3-6MPH
Summary Approx 5C but with cold wind-chill
Cloud 2000ft Ceiling
The first CROCK meeting for 2005. As always at this time of year the weather is not usually on the rocketeers side and this was no exception. Although on the positive side of things at least it wasn?t raining and/or blowing a gale. The day meant flyers could dust of those rockets and fly to a few thousand feet at best to remind ones self what it was all about for the new year of flying.

CROCK Event Review
Reviewer: Gary MeakinEven with the cold winds it didn?t stop the usual CROCK rocketeers from stopping along to chat, see whats going on and fly some rockets and welcome a new member to the monthly flying. Even with the limited altitude due to thick cloud cover it was adequate enough to fly some high power rockets.

John Sim had been busy over the winter period with his PML AMRAAM (4?) with onboard GPS X-Y-Z logging along with a Perfect Flight MAWD altimeter. John provided his GPS flight profiles (see photos) for geographical (X-Y) and altitude (Z) tracking. John said ?The track shows my AMRAAM landing on the opposite side of the ditch from the launch area. In fact the rocket landed just inside the launch field, about 3-feet short of the ditch (lucky). When fitting the GPS in the payload bay it was showing an accuracy of around 20-feet so the track was within the advertised error.?

The Jennings? team, Malcolm and Michael launched some high power rockets between them both. Michael?s scratch built Super Raptor made a great flight on a Pro38 and was recovered a reasonable distance downrange on the nice grassland. Malcolm had prepped his LOC V2 with a Pro38 J-motor that had a great boost to about 1500-feet but suffered the classic V2 recovery method of coming down ballistic. Malcolm?s said that he would rebuild the V2 bigger and better. Gary Meakin
